Interview with Chainsmokers DJ/singer – Alex Pall

Alex Pall is one-half of the EDM duo Chainsmokers, who recently had an interview with Interview Magazine. The duo released a song just yesterday called “Closer” with singer Halsey. In the interview, Pall goes into speaking about his roots and growing up with an interest to become a DJ. He used to DJ in New York City and had a strong interest in dance music specifically. After meeting his other half Drew, they formed a partnership and formed a bond that can never be broken. What started out as a hobby, turned into a successful full-time partnership. Both worked hard to fund their dreams and formed an identity. Pall explains that an important aspect of his music is connecting with people who listen on a deep level. The path is very much to Pall as a “journey of self-discovery and checking yourself.” They managed to surprise many people as their fame soared through the roof. The duo realized that they needed to be unique with so much competition from other DJ’s and artists. Pall explains that the two share their own past experiences in their songs and write some of them themselves. Something that makes them completely different from other artists out. Pall also talked about working with other artist Halsey, who has been rising in fame. He described working with her as “incredible, very cool, unique, and number 1 on that list of people they wanted to work with.” The song with Halsey “Closer” was produced by the duo. Pall has used Instagram to see individuals who really connect with their work singing along to their songs, either strangers and family. Pall noticed that many people aged between 16 to 25 listen to their music typically. He has also noticed that they are reaching more people internationally. The duo performs their own music live, which is different from traditional DJs today. The duo wants to keep improving and working hard, but more importantly, give people new experiences.
